Advanced Computing Research on Cascade Single and Double Hidden Layers for Detecting Shelf Life of Kalakand: An Artificial Neural Network Approach

Sumit Goyal

Abstract

Kalakand or Qalaqand is a popular Indian sweet made out of solidified, sweetened milk and cottage cheese. It owes it origin to the milk-rich Braj area of western Uttar Pradesh. It is a very popular sweetmeat in North and East India.. The term qand in qalaqand is derived from the Arabic language and means sweets. Cascade model’s single and double hidden layers ability were tested for detecting shelf life of kalakand. Results of developed models were evaluated with Mean Square Error, Root Mean Square Error and Coefficient of Determination. From the study, it is concluded that single hidden layer cascade models are better than double hidden layer models in detecting shelf life of kalakand stored at 6oC.
