Efficient Execution Plan for Hypothetical Database Testing

Mirza Mahmood Baig

Abstract

The concept of hypothetical database testing is new in the field of software testing. To speed up the testing processes of database software the terms independent update views (IUVs) and physically storage file called differential file are used. In this paper we propose executions plans for hypothetical database testing and compare with traditional database execution plans. The hypothetical execution plan depends upon hypothetical chain and hypothetical rollback. The advantage of hypothetical execution plan is that the originality of the database states remains intact throughout the experiments. It is expected that the proposed execution plan will provide confidence / assistance to software testers and system developers to reach more corrected outputs with the reduction of time and cost.
