Theoretical and Numerical Analysis on some optical fiber characteristics to find the best suited parameters for achieving better performance

Nasrin Akter Ripa

Abstract

When light travels in an optical fiber different type of losses occurs like absorption loss, scattering loss and loss due to dispersion. The loss of power depends on the wavelength of the light and also on the refractive index of the material. In this paper, different type of losses is analyzed theoretically and finally a solution has given for achieving low loss transmission based on the numerical analysis. The numerical analysis has been done by using Newton's Interpolation Formula and a root finding method called Bisection method to find the wavelength where the lowest loss occurs and these methods are implemented using MATLAB software.
